Mother's Day Dream Garden

Hello and a happy Wednesday to you! I'm excited to reveal the newest challenge at the Frilly and Funkie! Our host is Sue, and she has set forth the following guidelines for our projects:

For this challenge instead of an image, let a word take center stage. A single word can speak volumes, so let them do the talking. This could be any type of project you like; from a layout, an altered item, card, or journal page. You choose the form, but no stamped sentiments allowed!

Please visit the Frilly and Funky Challenge Blog for additional details regarding challenge entries. It's loads of fun and everyone who enters has the chance to win a $25.00 shopping spree at the Funkie Junkie Boutique!

I know I create quite a few garden projects. My Irish mother raised me on fairy tales and the stories of Frances Hodgson Burnett, so I truly can't help myself. Gardens are a place of peace. They nurture the soul and inspire dreams. My 'Garden of Dreams' is a gift for my wonderful mom on Mother's Day. I started with a wooden word that I crackle painted and stained for a shabby appearance.

My garden has a secret entrance; these time worn and twisted iron gates. At first glance the garden appears neglected and overgrown with twisting grasses and leaves. For those curious enough to enter, this forgotten garden shelters an abundance of wild pink roses, climbing and trailing towards the sunlight, undaunted by the ravages of time. If you look closely you'll even find a few butterflies flitting about the blooms.

These sweet girls have gone exploring. It's early and the foliage is still touched with the morning dew. They sit quietly, delighting in the tranquility of the garden.

I chose this particular vintage image to accent my project because my sister and I are the dearest things to my mother's heart. We are so blessed to have her. She is my best friend and the best mother in the world. I thank God for my sweet mother every day!

Thank you for visiting my blog! It means so much to me that you have taken a moment to stop by. May you be surrounded by beauty and your heart filled with joy on this lovely day!

Hugs,

  2. So very beautiful, Nancy...your mom will surely treasure this! (and can I say I love the little "scripts" you write to tell the story of your creations? They get the mind imagining and envisioning! :) )
